Sara Blokland

Sara Blokland is part of the general board of the TAAK foundation. She is a visual artist, curator and independent photography researcher. With her research and visual work, she reflects on the role of photography and archives in (post)colonial histories. Blokland studied at the Rietveld Academie and the Sandberg Institute, and holds an MA in Film and Photographic Studies from Leiden University. Her work has been exhibited at the Kumho Museum in Seoul, the Lmak Gallery in New York, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Blokland was also the photographer for the publication De politiekapel van Suriname, as well as co-editor and initiator of the book Unfixed Photography and Post-Colonial Perspectives in Contemporary Art.
