Time Travel Tours. Route by Frank Koolen

As part of the Life in the Woods project, Marres Projects and TAAK invited three artists to design a walk centred on the landscape in all its manifestations. Frank Koolen, Delphine Bedel and Ruchama Noorda each created their own interpretation of this commission. The results can be explored during weekends in October. Read more..

Time Travel Tours by Frank Koolen transports visitors from Marres to a forgotten area on Maastricht’s northern edge, the former Belvédèreheuvel. Important archaeological discoveries have been made here, including the oldest Neanderthal remains in the Netherlands. Koolen uses an audio tour and several interventions along the way to guide visitors through this well-worn area that seems to become more surrealistic with each step, and rewards them with a different view of the city from the rubbish dump that the Belvédèreheuvel has become.

This walk is an audio tour that lasts 2 hours. Collect the audio material at Marres. The walk starts anywhere between 12:00 and 14:00.

You are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes. Please note that there are a limited number of audio tours.
