Nils van Beek

Nils van Beek is partner and curator at TAAK. He studied Art History and Archaeology at the University of Amsterdam and was enrolled at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy for several years. Nils is artistic director of the artists’ residency KiK in Kolderveen, Drenthe (among others with Edwin Stolk and Wouter Jansen), and has been a lecturer in art theory at Artez Hogeschool in Zwolle since 2016.

Nils worked as a curator for SKOR | Foundation for Art and Public Domain, as coordinator of Sandberg2/Mariakapel in Hoorn and as a theory teacher at the AKV / Sint Joost and the HKU. He has published articles in Art Forum International and Metropolis M and was involved in several artists’ initiatives, including Agentur, Topos and Lokaal01.

Many of the projects he developed focus on nature, landscape and rural areas. He gave lectures about his area of expertise in The Netherlands and abroad and was co-curator of the symposium Going Public – Telling it Like it Is Bilbao.

At TAAK, he works for Bestemming Drachten, Huize Frankendael (with Edward Clydesdale Thomson), the Erasmus University Rotterdam (with Kathrin Schlegel), Cure Park (lecture series) and a new land art project commemorating the centennial of the Zuiderzee act.
