Bel's Pelgrimage. Tour by Ruchama Noorda

As part of the Life in the Woods project, Marres Projects and TAAK invited three artists to design a walk centred on the landscape in all its manifestations. The walk by Ruchama Noorda, titled Bel’s Pelgrimage, focuses on the healing powers of the landscape. In a walk between the Eyserbos and Holset she interweaves stories about local piety, holy water, edible loess and the meaning of walking in the Reformbeweging from the first half of the twentieth century. Purified, the participants arrive at their destination.

You can do this walk at your own convenience. A map is available at the starting point of the walk in the Eyserbos. Including breaks and stops, the walk takes about 5 hours.

Departure point
 The walk begins in the Eyserbos, a short distance north of Eys village. The beginning of the walk can be accessed from the Moorenheideweg, indicated on the map with an X. It is diagonally opposite the Eyserbosweg-Krekelbergweg-Moorenheideweg crossroads with the characteristic beech tree with a crucifix that can be seen from a distance.

The walk ends in Holset. A minibus takes participants back to the starting point at 3 moments:

NOTE: 

For people joining with public transport: at 2 moments in the morning a minibus will leave from Maastricht to bring you to the start. Each time there are 8 seats available. If you wish to use this possibility, you need to register for a specific time by sending an email to lifeinthewoods@marres.org

Please mention your requested time and the amount of people you wich to join with. You will be informed if there are seats available at the time of your request.
The time of travel to the start is about 30 minutes. Costs for this transport is €5,00 p.p. About the payment you will be informed after registration.

Way up: 10:00 from Maastricht Station (the bus will be waiting at the back side -east side- of the station, when you cross the pedestrian bridge over the rails to the left on the small parkinglot along the Meerssenerweg)

Back: 15.30 uur from Holset, arrival at Marres, Capucijnenstraat 98

Way up: 11.15 from Maastricht Station (the bus will be waiting at the back side -east side- of the station, when you cross the pedestrian bridge over the rails to the left on the small parkinglot along the Meerssenerweg)
With a print of your confirmation email you can have free acces to Marres. The different departure and arrival locations will give you the opportunity to visit Marres prior or after your walk.
